Bella's first (and only) Christmas tree ....EVER.

We got our Christmas tree today. Bella helped us pick it out. We now have a potted tree that we are hoping to keep around for Christmases to come.

And wont it be sweet to tell Bella, "We got this tree for you on your first Christmas." (hopefully we can remember to water it every once in a while)
And I guess it's kinda earth lovin' too. See what living in Santa Cruz does to you. It makes you a HIPPY. Next thing you know we'll be living in San Francisco, wearing tie-dye, and singing in rounds. HEY... wait ... I AM living in San Francisco! Crap. But we live near the Castro so we still bathe and use deodorant. And I shaved today! The only rounds I'll be singing in are at daycare.
So this year we're decorating the tree with origami. Bella likes the shinny paper and tries to grab it while I'm holding her and folding.
Today she was so funny. I'm reading James and the Giant Peach to her and she starts talking and talking. And she's just so happy that she can make sound now. She knows how to grunt and scream. We sat and talked for a while before continuing our story. I put her to bed awhile ago. Jonathan and her are asleep and they look so cute. I should go to now sleep too.

Crap in the Hat aka: Worst Movie Known To Man

Tuesdays are movie days for Bella and I. Last Tuesday we had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing .... The Cat in The Hat.

I can not begin to describe the pain and torment of sitting through each horrific moment of this GAWD awful movie. I know what you're thinking, "Why didn't you just leave?"
Well, I almost left. I stayed because I thought it would get better. And because I had driven all the way downtown with Bella (getting her ready... her screaming ... the whole ordeal of just getting there) and I had paid already. But a strange thing happened. Out of morbid curiosity I stayed and to see just how bad it would get ...
and I was not let down. Sitting there I began to get embarrassed for Mike Myers. I felt sorry for him. But sorrier for myself and putting my child through that too. AND I paid $3.50 for a lousy drink. arg.
Children's' movies can be very good. I love children's' movies. Marry Poppins, A Bug's Life, Monsters INC, Hell-raiser, Edward Scissor Hands.
I look forward to sharing movies with Bella .... good and bad. We did have a good time together. But for the love of your children DO NOT GO TO, RENT, OR ANYWAY CAST YOUR EYES ON THIS MOVIE. thank you.
